Taking care of a woman’s needs during the evolving stages of pregnancy and birth is crucial and necessary for her and the whole family’s wellbeing. Join us for a series of sessions to explore prenatal practices through the lens of Katonah Yoga theory. Open to women who are expecting or have already given birth, their caregivers, yoga teachers, doulas and bodyworkers.

THE BODY AS A HOUSE FOR - FOR TWO with Cassandra Simons
[Wednesday March 2nd]
The body is our personal abode and now it’s an abode for two! In this session we will move through the body as a house, as it grows into a home for two. Starting on the 1st floor to find stability and pliancy for birthing and beyond, moving to the 2nd floor to explore pranayama techniques that soothe and bolster, and culminating on the 3rd floor to bare witness to the body’s dynamic transformation and listening to the baby.

HOME PRACTICE + SELF CARE with Reni Bickel

Maintaining a regular yoga practice, while the body undergoes one of its most miraculous transformations can be invaluable. In this session we will explore how to develop a home practice for the evolving stages of pregnancy and birth, incorporating restorative poses, dynamic sequences, breath practices, short meditations, yoga nidra, deep relaxation and time management to help craft the practice that is right for each individual.

PHYSIOLOGY OF HORMONES + MEDITATION TOOLKIT with Giuliana Hazelwood

In this session we will explore the physiology of hormones, pregnancy, labor and postpartum, along with lifestyle, nutrition and self-care recommendations to support each perinatal phase and put any worries at ease. We will offer a practical meditation toolkit replete with guided meditations and body scans for pregnancy, labor and postpartum, including practices such as “pain as a wave” labor meditation, daily pregnancy body scans and postpartum deep rest reset.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICE + SOUND with Linsey Boisvert
[Wednesday March 23rd]
In this session we will move through a nourishing restorative practice. We will explore which restorative asanas are best to be practiced during each phase of pregnancy and postpartum, experience how to incorporate pranayama practices during each stage and end with a deeply relaxing sound bath, offering accessible ways to incorporate sound into the pregnancy journey and how this can be beneficial for a mother or mother to be.
